Early this month, Founder and Creative Director, Inessa Nichols, attended the Team Flower Conference in Pasadena, California. Before we get into the top takeaways from the conference, let us share with you a little about Team Flower. We also encourage you to visit their website to learn more!
What is Team Flower?
“Team Flower is a global flower community whose mission is to connect and empower flower lovers with lifelong support and education to help them love the world through flowers.”
This conference is their annual event designed to bring the community of flower lovers together to learn from others in the industry, collaborate, and of course network. They offer a variety of speaking engagements to hear from the pros, workshops to brush up on your skills or to acquire new ones, as well as, small group sessions where a lot of great conversations and friendships generate. Next year’s conference will be held in Albany, NY - learn more about it here!
Without further adieu, here are Inessa’s top five takeaways from the Team Flower Conference 2020!
Top 5 Takeaways
YOU HAVE TO SEE THE BEAUTY THROUGH THE THORNS - Rose Farmer, Danielle Hahn of Rose Story Farm
Being a florist is challenging! The goal is to see the beauty in florals while doing the hard work.
BE BOLD, MIX IT UP, TRY NEW THINGS - Rachael Lunghi of Siren Floral Co
Practice makes perfect - practice perfecting your craft. Select unusual flowers that you would not normally work with, experiment yourself - make room in your budget to play in the studio, play with your designs.
FIGURE OUT WHY YOU LOVE THINGS - Janelle Thomson of Lavenders Flowers
Figure out why you like specific flowers, why you select one over the other. For example, the reason why Inessa is drawn to tropical flowers is because they are funky and weird which represent her - she’s drawn to their unusual composition and how they represent abstract art.
PROVIDE CONSTANT AND POSITIVE EXPERIENCE FOR YOUR CUSTOMERS - Cristina Barragan of Posh Peony
We value our customers and we want to provide a lasting experience because they are putting their trust in us. IND’s team comes from a long history of Customer Service and that is our top value as a company.
YOU ARE ENOUGH, YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES, DON’T BE AFRAID TO SHINE - Katie Davis of Ponderosa & Thyme
This presentation had the whole room in tears. We are very critical of ourselves, the comparison game is real. Remember this mantra and live by it!
We hope that these top takeaways can also contribute to your success in 2020 and for years to come.
